10 Last-Minute WWE Backlash 2016 Rumors You Need To Know
8. Heath Slater Turns On Rhyno
One story that's run through the Smackdown Tag Team Title tournament - and has been running through the entire brand split - is Heath Slater's quest to get a contract. When the rosters were divided, Slater was the only wrestler who wasn't chosen, so by WWE logic, now he gets more TV time than anyone else.
Shane McMahon promised that Slater could get a contract if he and a partner won the tournament, and Slater's only friend, Rhyno, has helped the pair make the finals. Unlike their opponents, they'll only have one match on Sunday, and if they can win, Slater is set.
But what if Slater got a better offer? What if he turns on Rhyno on Sunday - costing the pair the championships - because Stephanie McMahon gave him a contract to join Raw? Given that Heath Slater is probably more popular now than he's ever been in his career, it may be a mistake to turn him, but it could be a clever way to give Raw a new solid midcard heel. It's unlikely, but not impossible.
