2. Charlotte Flair Wins The Five-Way Women's Match
SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi will not be in action at Battleground, but the number one contender to her championship will be decided when Charlotte Flair, Tamina, Natalya, Lana, and Becky Lynch battle in a five-way elimination match. The winner will challenge Naomi for the title at SummerSlam.
SummerSlam calls for a huge match, and given that Naomi versus Charlotte is probably the top women's match the SmackDown brand can put on at this point, it stands to reason that Charlotte will be winning the five-way match. None of the other four women would make as good a challenger for Naomi at the second-most-important show of the year.
Of course, there's always the issue of Carmella, currently the holder of the women's Money in the Bank briefcase. Were she to cash in on Naomi and win the title, that would change the SummerSlam match and might require a different number one contender. Nevertheless, Carmella will probably hold onto the briefcase at least until SummerSlam, so expect Charlotte versus Naomi in Brooklyn.
