10 Last-Minute WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Rumors You Need To Know
5. Finn Balor Enters The Royal Rumble
Finn Balor has unfinished business with the WWE Universal Championship. He became the inaugural champion at SummerSlam, but just a day later, he was forced to vacate the belt due to a shoulder injury that he suffered while winning it. He underwent surgery that week and has been recovering for the past five months.
Though Balor's initial recovery time was estimated to be four to six months, the doctor described his injury as more complicated than thought once the surgery was complete. Recently, news broke that Balor was targeting early March for a return, leading me to rank him on my list of 10 wrestlers who won't be in the Royal Rumble match.
Just days ago, though, PWInsider reported that Balor was flying to Birmingham, Alabama to be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews, and - if all was well - be cleared for a return to the ring. That means that if he gets the green light, he could potentially join the bout (and maybe start his rumored feud with The Undertaker). Will it happen? I have no idea what his condition is, so we'll have to call this one 50/50.
