With Damian Priest having recently turned heel, it appears that part of the reason for this heel turn ties back to Rhea Ripley's current injury.

Rhea suffered a meniscus injury at Clash in Italy back in May and is currently sidelined for an unspecified amount of time after undergoing surgery. The Eradicator was the reigning WWE Women's Champion at the time of that injury, with WWE eventually crowning Chelsea Green as the Interim WWE Women's Champion at SummerSlam, though Ripley has since been stripped of her title and Chelsea is now recognised as the outright WWE Women's Champion.

How does this all link to Damian Priest, then?

Well, speaking on the latest WrestleVotes Live! on Fightful Select, TC of WrestleVotes said that WWE had originally intended to reunite Priest and Ripley as the Terror Twins prior to Rhea's injury. With uncertainty over how long Rhea would be out of action, WWE decided to pair Priest up with R-Truth to form a tag team in the meantime, giving them the WWE Tag Team Titles and seeing how they get on.

Eventually, it was decided that the Damien Priest and R-Truth pairing was doing more harm than good for Priest, and so the call was made to have the tandem split up and for the Archer of Infamy to turn heel by attacking Truth.

As for the Terror Twins, it was said that a reunion could always take place at some point in the future, with Damian turning back babyface, and WWE is said to like the Priest and Ripley pairing "a lot".
