10 Last-Minute WWE Money In The Bank 2016 Rumors You Need To Know
9. A Seventh Man
When the Money in the Bank match was officially announced the evening after Extreme Rules, it was hyped as a seven-man ladder match. On that episode of Raw, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose, and Kevin Owens qualified for the bout. Later that week on Smackdown, Alberto Del Rio earned a spot in the match.
The following week on Raw, there was no mention of a seventh man, and the bout was being treated as a six-person affair. According to reports, the company was still considered adding another competitor, but they purposely left things ambiguous to cover for either eventuality.
Weeks later, no mention has been made of a seventh man. Still, rumors are circulating that there will be a surprise competitor in the bout - either a former star famous for his performances in the match (like Shelton Benjamin or Rob Van Dam), or a member of the current roster making a surprise comeback (Bray Wyatt).
A return like that could be fun, but Shelton Benjamin is currently working in Japan and Rob Van Dam hasn't expressed much interest in coming back to WWE. As for Wyatt, there's no reason to bring him back unless he's winning, and that's unlikely.
