10 Least Convincing Intercontinental Champions In WWE History
2. Bob Holly
Imagine a scenario today where the WWE Intercontinental Title changed hands on an episode of Main Event. That's pretty much what happened in 1995, only the title switch took place on the long-defunct Action Zone program. Cast as 'Multi Sport Superstar', Bob Holly was said to be a race car driver outside of the WWF. This fell in the era when Vince McMahon was obsessed with making his stars have jobs aside from wrestling. The character wasn't really over, although fans were fine with Holly existing on the lower mid card. In April, 1995, Bob shocked everyone by pinning Jeff Jarrett to win the Intercontinental Title. On the same broadcast, the title was vacated, because Jarrett's foot was revealed to have been on the ropes. A rematch took place, and Holly fell to the former champion. Jeff Jarrett left the show with his title in tact. It was a wholly unnecessary scenario, especially considering it meant the Intercontinental Title was briefly vacated. As 'Hardcore' Holly, Bob would go on to become a much more over part of the product. As 'Spark Plug' Bob Holly, he was not, and he was a poor choice for the Intercontinental Title mix.
