10 Legendary Wrestlers Who Couldn't Cut A Promo

7. Davey Boy Smith

Your honour, the prosecution presents to you these three pieces of evidence:-

Exhibit A: a gem from the old War Zone PlayStation game, in which a glistening Davey Boy sways around like a sheet in the wind, clearly reading from cue cards held behind the lens.

Exhibit B: the least threatening verbal volley anyone has ever thrown at Big Van Vader. Proof, if ever it were needed, that just shouting is no substitute for verbal flair.

Exhibit C: in which the British Bulldog cuts one of the most horrendous wrestling promos ever captured on tape. Just watch it. No further explanation is needed.

Bulldog was set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. The fate of those inductions remains unclear after the ceremony's cancellation, though he deserves the spot. A multi-time midcard champion and one of WWE's most prominent wrestlers for much of the '80s and '90s, Smith was hindered only by his vices, and while he never had the most finesse between the ropes, he was, at the very least, carryable. That SummerSlam '92 main event with Bret Hart still stands as a classic 28 years on.
