Dusty Rhodes name was synonymous with World Championship Wrestling, and he had also spent a brief period of time with the World Wrestling Federation. No one expected The American Dream to ever step foot in an ECW arena, let alone an ECW ring. But in 2000, big Dust did just that. In January of that year, ECW taped an edition of their TNN television show in Atlanta, Georgia. Rhodes had recently been let go from WCW, and Atlanta was long referred to as the companys home. Steve Corino, who was a hot heel on the rise in the company, proclaimed himself the King of Old School and continually derided the fans for the lust for hardcore wrestling. The anti-hardcore crusader began the show by cutting a promo. Finally, Dusty had enough and attacked Corino. The two began feuding which led to a Bull Rope match at that years Living Dangerously PPV. Rhodes went on to defeat the King of Old School in the contest and would leave the company shortly thereafter.
