When Seth Rollins injured his knee during a house show in Ireland back in 2015, it threw a huge monkey wrench into the works of the 'Architect's career. Amid the run of a lifetime as WWE Champion, Rollins was forced to vacate the title and miss several months of action, including the planned match with Triple H at WrestleMania 32.

When he did return, the match was rescheduled for WrestleMania 33 and looked to finally take shape when Triple H turned on Rollins in favour of Kevin Owens. With WrestleMania 33 in sight, the two men were on a collision course.

However, the debuting Samoa Joe would put that bout in serious jeopardy when a Coquina Clutch saw Rollins torque his knee once again, leaving the 'Mania showdown with 'The Game' in the balance for the second year in a row.

Just weeks away from WrestleMania, Rollins' status for the show was uncertain. The build up saw a legitimate race against time for Rollins to return to health and the blurred lines between fiction and reality made for gripping TV.

Genuine rehab videos began airing in the run-up, showing Rollins' return efforts. The precarious status of his health led to the planned 'Mania bout being made a 'Non-sanctioned' match to reflect the fact Rollins was supposedly battling doctor's orders.
