10 Lessons Ronda Rousey Could Teach WWE

9. Embrace Controversy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySPJGw2tmoQ After besting notorious woman abuser Floyd Mayweather for the honor of "Best Fighter" at the 2015 ESPY Awards, Ronda Rousey said, "I wonder how Floyd feels being beaten by a woman for once." It's a jaw dropper of a statement, and the kind of thing one only says if they're wanting to be honest moreso than stir up controversy. Not since the days that CM Punk haunted the halls of WWE has the company had someone employed who would make such a statement. Too often, everything that pro wrestling does in the mainstream media screams "angle alert." However, if more talents were to be like, say, Darren Young -- who flatly outed himself as gay without any angle following his announcement -- it'd create a real-life point of intrigue where a performer could possibly create a unique connection with both the WWE Universe and popular culture in general.
