10 Live Observations From WWE SmackDown In St. Paul
4. Dean’s Humor Somehow Works

WWE’s audience can be a strange bunch. Enzo Amore is beginning to wear out his welcome, while New Day still gets a free pass for their hit-and-miss material. Over on SmackDown, Dean Ambrose received a great reaction, and then delivered some terrible jokes...and people really enjoyed it!
The “lunatic fringe” informed the crowd that “Over the years I’ve learned a lot of valuable life lessons. Roller blading home after happy hour isn’t a good idea. Some women don’t like to be called ‘sturdy.' Burrito bowls and roller coasters...they don’t mix.” Somehow this material got a lot of laughs. Burrito bowls? Eh. To each their own.
Dean’s character once felt like the next CM Punk-like badass rebel, but all he’s interested in is cornball humor. Even when Baron Corbin came on the screen, Dean had a “I didn’t validate my parking” line ready in his back pocket. Kids do genuinely seem to like Ambrose, but it feels like this isn’t the guy that adults fans were all hoping for a couple years ago. Still, for a large segment of the crowd, it works.
