History precedes The Miz’s official Royal Rumble track record. Only on two occasions - in 2012 and in this example from 2017 - has the two-time WWE Champion lasted thirty-plus minutes in the Rumble match, going forty-five minutes and thirty-nine seconds in 2012, and thirty-two minutes and forty-four seconds in 2017. The rest of his performances were a write-off, from lasting just seven seconds in 2007 to seventeen seconds three years later in 2010.

In 2012, he achieved two eliminations, both of whom were goobers who entered to flesh out the field; former running partners Alex Riley and R-Truth.

He went two steps worse in 2017, dumping nobody out of the ring before he himself was ousted by The Undertaker, one of three part-timers needlessly competing in the match to set up their respective WrestleMania 33 angles.

In both matches, The Miz did nothing more than cling onto the ropes, evading elimination, and sneakily running in to punch a few folk before scarpering back to whichever corner he crawled out from. He’s a tactical Royal Rumble entrant, but rarely an uber-successful one.

And yet, he’s regularly touted as a workhorse of the January staple.
