WWE have put considerable effort into building Finn Balor up. From his record-breaking NXT Title run to being selected fifth overall in the 2016 Draft, Balor has been portrayed as a big deal since the day he signed. He now finds himself wrestling one of SummerSlam’s main events after less than a month on the main roster, and if the early projections are anything to go by, he’s about to go stratospheric.

The fans are still getting used to him, but it looks like Balor is going to be a huge star on Raw. He’s been made to look super competitive in his dealings with Rollins thus far, and with the biggest match of his WWE career ahead of him, there’s a great chance he’ll walk out as the first ever Universal Champion.

Losing to Seth Rollins would render all this hard work null and void. Balor would slide back down the ladder and embark upon a dangerous career trajectory, and WWE would bottle their chance of cementing him as a legitimate top guy. Rollins is the long-term face of the company, and unquestionably the star of Raw at the moment, but Balor would lose more from losing to Rollins than Seth would gain from winning, and it shouldn’t happen.

Rollins doesn’t need to be the first Universal Champion. His star isn’t going to diminish if he loses to Balor, and he’ll remain just as relevant as he was before. In fact, a loss to The Demon would be the perfect catalyst for his whiny, obnoxious side to kick in, and provide fuel for a long-term feud between two of WWE’s most exciting competitors.
