10 Lowest Rated WWE Matches Of All Time (According To Dave Meltzer)

9. Jake Roberts Vs. Andre The Giant (WrestleMania V)

Rating: -3 stars

Andre The Giant made history at WrestleMania III. The bodyslam heard around the world was a huge, era-defining moment, and one that will feature on highlight packages for as long as the company exists. Unfortunately, Andre had hit an immense physical decline by that point in 1987. He was already having visible difficulty moving around the ring, but remained WWE's most marketable spectacles, and a genuine wrestling megastar.

If Andre was in bad condition in Detroit, he was close to falling apart by WrestleMania V. He wrestled Jake 'The Snake' Roberts with Big John Studd as special guest referee that night, and the results weren't pretty; Jake tried his best to coax a good match out of his opponent, but Andre was close to unwatchable, and his obvious weaknesses could no longer be masked.

Marred by a daft finish that saw Andre disqualified for choking Studd, it's easy to see why Meltzer dropped three negative stars on this one. It's one of the most depressingly poor performances of Andre's career, and served only to establish a feud between Roberts and Ted DiBiase, who interfered towards the end.
