10 Mainstream Songs That Made Great Wrestling Entrance Themes

9. Voodoo Child By Jimi Hendrix (Hulk Hogan 99-00/ 02-04)

Hulk Hogan has enjoyed his fair share of iconic entrance themes. Many older fans will remember the days when he used Survivor's Eye of the Tiger as a not so subtle nod to his role in Rocky III. Beyond that, Hogan has became synonymous with the unforgettable likes of Real American and the whammy-laced, guitar based debauchery that is the NWO theme.

During his run as Hollywood Hogan, the future Mr America led his nefarious stable from their limo to the unmistakable sounds of Jimi Hendrix's 1968 track Voodoo Child. Whilst the theme didn't stick to the whole stable, Hogan took the theme as his own, creating another amazing musical notch on the bedpost of his wildly successful career.

The opening riff is instantly recognizable to a wrestling fan. The lyrics spark images of an unstoppable force that could conquer any foe. With a swagger and heavily-improvised structure, the song was the perfect accompaniment to Hogan's air guitar adorned strides down the aisle.

For those wondering where the confusion over the name stems from, with many believing the song to be called Voodoo Chilli, there are a number of reasons. Following Hendrix's death, Voodoo Child was released as a single in the UK under the name Voodoo Chile.

Hendrix fans will know that Voodoo Chile is the name of a largely unrelated, improvised track on the same album as Voodoo Child. Another cause of the confusion was Mike Tenay's numerous mispronunciations of the song whilst on commentary.
