10 Mainstream Songs That Made Great Wrestling Entrance Themes

7. Walk By Pantera (Rob Van Dam 1998-99)

ECW was the personification of the overlap between fans of metal and the emerging brand of hardcore wrestling that populated the late '90s.

With Rob Van Dam, ECW fans had someone who perfectly blended the inherent showmanship of wrestling with a down to earth reliability that was lacking elsewhere. With most of the ECW roster using metal songs from the era (an era particularly rich in high quality material) RVD needed something that was suitably hard-hitting while also containing the underlying, laid-back cynicism crucial to his persona.

The perfect choice was found in Pantera's 1991 track Walk. Fans of Rob Van Dam's WWE career will immediately hear the influence Walk had on his later themes, with the chugging, dirty guitar riffs being more than a little similar.

Walk was a relentless introduction to the frantic, unpredictable style that Van Dam cultivated in ECW. The antagonistic vocals and pounding drums gave him an edge of attitude and rock star aura tailor-made for the infamous and rabid ECW fan base.
