Daniel Bryans last feud before his injury was with The Authoritys demon, Kane, and it was a vicious affair indeed, in the world of kayfabe, Kane is responsible for Bryans injury. Though Bryan defeated Kane to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a thrilling encounter at Extreme Rules, the antipathy between the former World Tag Team Champions was not yet settled. Rumors of possible stretcher matches and buried alive matches between the two men swirled, but never came to pass due to Bryans condition. Bryan could return in the Royal Rumble and make a beeline for his hated foe, assaulting Kane with a series of kicks before dumping him from the ring. Perhaps Bryans thirst for vengeance outweighs his desire for gold, and he leaves the Rumble simply to continue beating down the demon. In the Elimination Chamber, Bryan could again make Kanes decimation his top priority, costing the Big Red Machine another chance for championship gold. From there, the stage would be set for a brutal stipulation match between the two in Santa Clara.
