10 Major Positives To Take From WWE Hell In A Cell 2015
2. Alberto Del Rio Is Back
Hell in a Cell opened with a bang as John Cena presented a special PPV edition of his United States Championship Open Challenge. To everyone's surprise, Zeb Colter emerged from the back on a mobility scooter, appearing on TV for the first time since being attacked by Rusev in December 2014. He had an even bigger shocker up his sleeve, introducing Alberto Del Rio as the man who would accept the open challenge. Del Rio was dismissed from WWE in August 2014 for "unprofessional conduct", but had been lured back after becoming a well-paid fixture of the North American indy circuit (as well as regular work in Mexico and international tours). Del Rio won the US Championship last night, defeating John Cena cleanly in a brief encounter that could mark Cena's departure from WWE television for a considerable period of time. In an age in which major revelations tend to leak to online dirtsheets well in advance of big shows, it was refreshing to see such a big moment occur without it being spoiled beforehand. The fact that Del Rio is once again a part of WWE creates a number of very exciting opportunities for matches and rivalries. Del Rio could share a ring with some of the newer performers in the company, including recently-promoted NXT prospects such as Kevin Owens and Neville. There's also the prospect, later down the line, of a feud between Del Rio and Seth Rollins, which would be solid gold between the ropes. Del Rio represents a considerable opportunity that WWE should capitalise on in order to turn their current ratings misfortunes around.
