10 Major Problems WWE Faces After SummerSlam 2017
2. The Shield Reunion
It’s one of the most compelling storylines heading into SummerSlam: The Shield has reunited. Well, two-thirds of it.
After weeks of Seth Rollins pleading for forgiveness from Dean Ambrose, who has never been known to turn the other cheek, the former Hounds of Justice set aside their differences to battle Cesaro and Sheamus. The crowd exploded when they fist bumped like the old days, and fans are now wondering whether Roman Reigns will join his former brothers.
On the surface, a Shield reunion seems beneficial for the company; it could spike ratings and boost Reigns’ popularity. But there could also be a swerve in the works as Rollins’ face run has been lackluster since defeating Triple H at WrestleMania 33. The Architect could be luring Ambrose into a false sense of comfort, waiting to attack again.
On the other hand, perhaps Ambrose has suckered in Rollins as a favor to Triple H. After several years as the scrappy, rebellious hero, a heel turn would freshen up Ambrose’s character and provide plenty of new matchups on Raw. Most importantly, it would prevent yet another battle with The Miz.
