10 Major WWE Matches That Changed At The Last Second

7. Edge & Mick Foley vs. Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer €“ ECW One Night Stand 2006

Edge and Mick Foley had a brutal hardcore match at WrestleMania 22, but a rematch between the two on Raw turned into a Triple Threat match with Tommy Dreamer €“ and a revelation of the alliance between Foley and Edge. The two men destroyed Dreamer, with Foley soon adopting a version of the anti-hardcore persona he had used in ECW over a decade earlier. That didn't sit right with Terry Funk, though, who came back to give Foley a piece of his mind and demand a fight with his former friend. Edge and Lita helped Foley dispose of Funk, but the ECW originals came back and challenged their hated rivals to a match at One Night Stand. At the show, Lita accompanied Edge, as always, but ECW alumna (and wife of Tommy Dreamer) Beulah McGillicutty came to the ring with the babyfaces. All of a sudden, we had a six-person tag team match, and a violent one at that. The women stayed out of the action, for the most part, but the finish came when Edge Speared Beulah for the pinfall. In a sense, the finish felt like a copout €“ none of the four men feuding were defeated. However, it also helped keep ECW strong heading into its resurrection as brand, so it's a defensible change.
