We will probably never hear anything beyond rumours regarding the real issue that ignited the hatred between McMahon and Savage. While often pressed, the pair have largely remained tight-lipped whenever questioned about their personal history. Yet, the fact that McMahon appears to get flustered and angry whenever Savage is so much as mentioned within his proximity indicates that the root of the problem is pretty deep. Many people have simply put the animosity down to Macho Man giving his word to Vince that he wouldnt join WCW, but still left the WWE for McMahons biggest rivals regardless of his previous promise. Although, McMahon has been shown to forgive a number of his former employees that switched their allegiance during the ratings war, including Hulk Hogan, so why would he maintain such a strong resentment towards Savage? There is of course a very famous and arguably farfetched alternative theory that has circulated around the internet for decades, which would go a long way to explaining why the heat was never resolved or discussed; and this would be the rumour that Randy Savage slept with a seventeen-year-old Stephanie McMahon. Yes it is hard to believe, but while neither man was ever willing to discuss their problems this theory has never been completely squashed.
