10 Managers WWE Must Use
9. Ricky Steamboat - #DIY
Ricky Steamboat was really, really good at tag team wrestling. Before his main event run, he formed a legendary team with Jay Youngblood, and a number of other (lesser) teams. In the twilight of his in-ring career, Ricky Steamboat busied himself by mentoring younger wrestlers, forming winning partnerships with both Dustin Rhodes and Shane Douglas.
That's what makes Steamboat the perfect choice to mentor NXT's resident team of scrappy white-meat babyfaces, #DIY. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano have done very well for themselves in NXT, but they're exactly the kind of performers who could get lost in the shuffle on the main roster.
An association with a legend like Steamboat could give more casual audiences a reason to care about these guys who they may vaguely know, but certainly not as intimately as the Full Sail faithful do.
Er, if they can patch up their blood feud by the time they get called up.
