10 Marriages WWE Acknowledged And Turned Into Storylines

Some marriages which lasted, some that didn't...

On Total Divas Sunday night, viewers watched as Jimmy Uso exchanged vows with Naomi Knight. Unlike typical WWE weddings, no one objected and interrupted, no one smashed someone with cake or a steel chair€ and stage names were not used. It was Jonathan Fatu marrying Trinity McCray. Recently, WWE has seemingly had an unprecedented number of real-life weddings concurrently incorporated into the company€™s storylines €“ all through Total Divas. Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella tied the knot the week after WrestleMania and were immediately thrust into the spotlight on Raw upon returning from their honeymoon. And Tyson Kidd and Natalya€™s marriage was woven into WWE television, with Nattie breaking away from Great Khali to partner with her husband as he returned from injury. While reality TV has increased the profile of these married couples, WWE has certainly incorporated real-life marriages into storylines before €“ to varying degrees of success. Some of these marriages have played prominent roles in storylines, while others are more underlying.

Honorable Mentions: One-Offs And Near Misses

http://youtu.be/KHlT-aZeTUM?t=3m39s Not every married couple who works for WWE is acknowledged on screen. (In fact, several of the pairings listed on the next pages were not €œouted€ as being married until some time later.) Marc Mero and Sable worked together and against each other during their tenures, but their marriage wasn€™t really noted or made part of a storyline. And although Charlie Haas and Jackie Gayda€™s engagement was incorporated into an angle, their marriage was not €“ they were released a month after tying the knot. Some non-wrestling wives have been ever-so-briefly incorporated into WWE television. Shawn Michaels€™ wife Rebecca (former Nitro Girl Whisper) got involved briefly in her husband€™s feud with Chris Jericho, and Beulah McGillicutty made a couple appearances with her husband, Tommy Dreamer. Perhaps two of the more interesting WWE-acknowledged marriages are David Otunga (who is married to singer/actress Jennifer Hudson) and Randy Orton (who had two different actress portray his then-wife Samantha). Neither spouse has been a part of an angle, but they have been referenced.
