Roman Reigns Admits He Should've Said "No" To More Bad WWE Ideas (WWE News)

"Suffering succotash, son" still haunts WWE kingpin Roman Reigns all these years on.

Roman Reigns has told Club Shay Shay that he wishes he could retrospectively stroke his chin then say: "Not today, brother" about a few moments from his WWE past. However, as the reigning World Heavyweight Champion pointed out during the interview, he "just didn’t have the equity within the company" back then.

So, like a good soldier, Roman did as he was told without much protest (if any).

The 'OTC' specifically highlighted his infamous "suffering succotash, son" line aimed at old Shied cohort Seth Rollins from a January 2015 episode of SmackDown. That was Vince McMahon's bid to make Reigns more likeable as a babyface, but it backfired spectacularly.

Instead of connecting Roman to the core audience, it turned him into a walking punchline. Of course, poking fun at Sheamus for having "tater tots" for testicles didn't help either. The Rock cutting down foes on the mic during his pomp in the 'Attitude Era', this certainly was not.

It clearly bugs Reigns that he's "delivered unbelievable work since then", but yet people still bring up "suffering succotash" and some of his...less-than-stellar moments. "I'll be tied to that", he signed.

Roman recently defended his World Title vs. LA Knight at Money In The Bank. He's a key part of the Raw rivalry between The Bloodline and The 946. Now, it looks like there's a solid chance Reigns will step back into the WarGames double cage for a clash with Royce Keys and pals at Survivor Series next month.

That hasn't been officially announced, but WWE TV has been building towards the gimmick for a while now.
