10 Massive Exaggerations In WWE
1. Viewers
WWE is widely known to exaggerate and downright lie with its ratings for the sake of their networks and stockholders.
The old WWF intro once stated WWE had "more than a half billion viewers each week.” It’s the way they particularly phrase it like that that made you believe WWE was watched by five hundred different million people each week when in actuality it simply meant they broadcast to half a billion every week - half a billion people were able to watch WWE if they so chose to.
They were at it again earlier this year when WWE claimed in a tweet ‘The tag team of #RAW & @USA_Network DOMINATED the ratings in 2019!’ which we all know isn’t particularly true as the ratings and viewership and key demos declined in numbers for their programming, just like they had in 2018 and 2017 and 2016 etc. Even now in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic with no audiences and a limited roster and the least-watched episode in Raw’s 25-year history with the go-home edition for ‘The Horror Show at Extreme Rules’, don’t be surprised if WWE sends a ‘DOMINATED the ratings in 2020!’ tweet towards the end of the year.
