One of the most spectacular and brutal matches in the history of modern pro wrestling, the Young Bucks Vs. The Lucha Brothers was also one of the greatest ladder matches ever.

The detail was everywhere. At various points, all four men implored their brothers to "Climb, climb" just off camera. It's a very simple and minor (and necessary) thing to do, but it was crucial in presenting this as a match to win, and not just a show to perform.

But what a show it was, Jesus Christ.

It was so gripping and violent and dramatic that even Jim Ross softened his Cornette-adjacent stance and got swept up in it. The brothers wove a great, unique story around the completely f*cking demented big spots, in which each team was inseparable in quality and strategy. Matt Jackson and Fénix found themselves standing atop ladders on opposite stands of the ring, exchanging incredulous impressions before sacrificing their bodies. Most big matches on pay-per-view go 50/50; this war was a very creative spin on both that and the brothers versus brothers theme.

Matt took a Canadian Destroyer off the top of a ladder and through a table in one of the most batsh*t major league spots ever, and Nick almost broke his neck by misjudging his trajectory on his own, terrifying wipeout moment.
