10 Mistakes That Actually Enhanced WWE Matches

8. Sami Zayn's Over-Exuberance (Battleground 2016)

Botch: This one could've ended Sami Zayn's career.

He turned his back on Kevin Owens, who was outside the ring looking up and waiting to catch his peer, and performed a springboard dive. That was the plan anyway. Instead of hitting the ropes with his legs and bouncing into KO's arms though, Sami nearly landed head first on the ring apron.

How It Enhanced The Match: That devil-may-care attitude put across just how desperate Zayn was to beat Owens and prove he was the better man after some serious verbal abuse. The bout's story relied on Sami putting everything on the line to avenge Owens' decision to turn against him in NXT.

This helped, and it did so despite the fact that Zayn legitimately would've been hurt had Kevin not acted quickly to push try and cushion his fall even a little. The announcers picked up on what was happening and weaved a tale of rashness from a determined Sami.
