10 Mistakes WWE Can't Afford To Make With Hell In A Cell 2016
1. Anything Other Than A Clean Kevin Owens Win
Aside from curbing Triple H’s involvement, in order to make Sunday’s Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins match a success, it’s vital that WWE present their current Universal Champion as someone worthy of holding the belt. This hasn’t been the case for the vast majority of KO’s run, and if it continues, he’ll soon be among the most ineffective wrestlers to ever hold a world title.
Owens only won the belt through Triple H’s actions, and he held onto it at Clash after distractions from Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon. He hasn’t won a single match on his own merit since becoming champion, and while that plays to his character somewhat, it makes him look weak and incompetent as a competitor.
A clean win for Kevin Owens would go a long way to rebuilding him. Rollins is comfortable enough to take the loss, and while KO has shown reluctance to complete in the cell, the environment plays to his strengths. At his best, Owens is a ruthless brute who thinks nothing of injuring opponents to get what he wants, and he’ll have plenty of opportunities to do so at HIAC.
This is the perfect moment to turn his title reign around. The Universal Title is a brand new belt with a first champion who fell to injury after one day, and a second who can’t win on his own accord. Another change would tarnish its reputation further, and leave Owens with a title reign comparable to those of Rey Mysterio and Jack Swagger.
