10 Mistakes WWE Refuse To Learn From
7. Going For Short Term Pops Over Long Term Success
Everyone loves a pop. A crowd rising as one to celebrate a moment of perfection - just thinking about it gives you goosebumps. However, sometimes the chase of that big pop can hurt the long term booking of a company
Take Bayley. When she was called up to the main roster, her role seemed simple. WWE just had to do what they did down in NXT but on a larger scale. Show the worldwide audience her struggle to reach the top. Have her take some losses and when the time was right - maybe in a year or even two - have her beat Charlotte or Sasha to win the Women’s Title.
Of course, they didn’t do that. They played the short game and just months after debuting Bayley won the belt. It was a great moment as those of us who had followed her in NXT saw this young woman achieve her dream and the crowd went crazy, but it didn't last.
Getting a huge reaction is great, but it shouldn't be prioritised over the establishment of a story. From rushing back CM Punk after he ran off with the title to Bayley, that's a lesson WWE don't seem to learn.
