10 Mistakes WWE Refuse To Learn From

5. Xenophobic Booking

A long time ago WWE made its name from booking American heroes to defeat foreign invaders. Hulking Russians would come in and declare that their country was better and that the American fans were ignorant. They would then destroy some lesser wrestlers before the hero rode in to save the day and America’s honour was restored.

Oh, wait, that's happening today.

Right now, WWE is booking Rusev, Jinder Mahal, and even Kevin Owens, in the same way. Their gimmicks are that they are foreign and that’s pretty much it. Did Vince forget that he'd decided they needed more than that over twenty years ago?

Embracing other cultures and making them part of your wrestling company is a good idea. It’s not even impossible to pull off an evil foreigner angle. It just needs a bit more subtlety in this day and age. Give them more than ‘India good, America bad’. You never know, those Indian fans you are so desperate to attract might just appreciate it.
