10 Mistakes WWE Will Probably Make With The Brand Split
5. Making It Revolve Around The McMahons
Since Payback, Stephanie and Shane McMahon have been running Raw as a team, and they've by and large been getting along very well. Granted, Stephanie's recent agreeable nature is clearly being set up as a facade and eventually, she and Shane will be feuding again, but that hasn't been revealed yet. So far, everything's hunky-dory.
Despite that, it was already announced in WWE's press release that Shane will be running one show and Stephanie the other, meaning that there's going to be some sort of rift manufactured between the siblings between now and July 19. That means more McMahon drama on TV, which means more focus on them and less on the wrestlers.
Once the split occurs, that could continue. When Stephanie and Eric Bischoff were running the two brands in 2002 and 2003, they didn't often share TV space, but they still got a ton of time to build up their rivalry.
Even putting the feud aside, WWE has always had a propensity for putting the McMahons on television at the expense of talent. Currently, SmackDown is free from their TV presence, but that will change when the split happens.
