'Taker’s streak is a huge part of WWE folklore, but it was never planned out. WWE had no intentions of booking 'The Phenom' as an invincible WrestleMania force when he debuted, and it wasn’t until 'Taker’s ninth 'Mania match that the company realised it was something they could market.

His undefeated run was occasionally mentioned on commentary prior to WrestleMania X-Seven, but 'Taker’s classic bout with Triple H was the first time it became a company-wide concern. Things didn’t really click into gear until the following year, however. Now 9-0, The Undertaker goaded WCW legend Ric Flair into a match by abusing Arn Anderson and his son David, and the ensuing contest was far stronger than it should have been, given Flair was already north of 50 years old at the time.

'The Phenom' won, of course, surviving Anderson’s interference and withstanding Ric's fiery passion, but the real WrestleMania moment came afterwards. Victorious, 'Taker held both of his hands in the air, outstretching all of his fingers to signify his new 10-0 record. 'The streak' became one of WrestleMania’s biggest draws and the defining component of Undertaker's incredible legacy thereafter.
