At Spring Stampede 1997, WCW presented a Four Corners Match between Booker T, Stevie Ray, Lex Luger and The Giant, with the winner of which set to challenge for Hollywood Hulk Hogan's Heavyweight Title. A rare opportunity for a midcard act to crack the elusive WCW main event scene clearly enthused Book, who dropped the most legendary clanger in wrestling history at the very thought.

Harlem Heat and manager Sister Sherri were interviewed backstage by Gene Okerlund beforehand. "What you're dealing with here is the brotherhood," Booker T started. Seconds later, he wished he hadn't. "We take what we want. And after we take Lex Luger and The Giant, we want the gold, sucka. Hulk Hogan: we comin' for you, n*gga!"

Book knew instantly that he'd botched this badly, cradling his head in his hands the millisecond the last vowel left his mouth. Brilliantly, Sherri echoed the sentiments of everyone watching. She thought it was a riot, but also tended to him sympathetically.

Funnier still, Ray remained stone-faced throughout. The moment did not register with him at all, but it's so infamous that people actually celebrated its inclusion on Twitter when the Network was first launched.
