10 MORE Attempted WWE Repackages That Failed Miserably
1. The Emmalina Debacle
Emma's WWE run will ultimately go down as one of the Women's Revolution's biggest disappointments. Continually misused throughout her time with the company, the Australian rebuilt her ailing career in NXT in 2015, returned to the main roster in March 2016, and should've been pushed as a major heel. Instead, she became a bit-parter.
A career-threatening back injury struck that May. Emma was ruled out for the best part of a year, but vignettes promoting her return surfaced in October. They teased "the makeover of Emma to Emmalina," hinting at a major repackaging, and ran for weeks without resolution.
Fans were left wondering if Emmalina would ever make it to WWE television, particularly after the company failed to deliver on her promised re-debut on 12 December. The videos continued, however, and Emma finally re-emerged in February 2017, only to completely distance herself from the new character.
The repackaging was shelved before it ever truly began. Emmalina became Emma once more, with reports suggesting that WWE officials felt she couldn't execute the character to their liking, and thus began the Australian's slide. She was back in action, but only on the periphery, and was released seven days after wrestling Asuka at TLC 2017.
