10 MORE Huge "What If" Scenarios In WWE History
6. What If The Undertaker Hadn't Evolved?
There's an argument to be made that The Undertaker is the most important WWE superstar of all time, and while this isn't necessarily true, his longevity is unparalleled, as is his legacy.
Much of 'Taker's success comes from evolution. The importance of his ability to adapt his character and conform to new generations of fans over multiple decades can't be understated, as without it, The Undertaker would've likely been consigned to the scrapheap sometime in the '90s.
Mark Callaway started his WWE run as a literal undertaker, but eschewed this when he took on Paul Bearer as his manager, becoming a supernatural zombie giant instead. A biker, 'The Lord Of Darkness,' 'Big Evil,' a beloved wrestling institution: he has been all of these since 1990, and while some phases were more successful than others, each one kept him relevant.
Had 'Taker not adapted, and wrestled as 'The Western Mortician' for the entirety of his career, there's a strong chance we'd have seen the back of him a long time ago. Undertaker made it work, but the original gimmick was a lame slice of WrestleCrap-esque nonsense that would've surely expired during WWE's transition to the Attitude Era, meaning no Ministry, no Kane, and no Streak.
