2. Trent

Much like Lance Archer and Colt Cabana, Trent had far more than just a cameo in WWE, but his time working for Vince McMahon came during such a period of wider disinterest in the company at large (especially when landlocked on C-shows) that it tends to go.

P*ss funny when given (even less than) half a chance to entertain, Trent was a cult hit as one half of The Dudebusters on the WWE shows you weren't watching, including a particularly drab period for SmackDown that the likes of Beretta and partner Caylen Croft couldn't do much to affect change on.

After runs on NXT during the Redemption season, he briefly popped up in the black-and-gold brand's Full Sail era, engaging in a feud with Leo "Adam Rose" Krueger before sustaining an injury and getting a release in the process. Luckily, a "Where's Trent?" gag on Zack Ryder's YouTube show gave him a question mark, and the release gave him a new sense of purpose.

From being a quintessential example of a guy they'd believe they'd never need, he became one that'd simply never need them.
