Ahead of their Monday Night Raw reunion shortly before October's Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose dropped hints for months that a Shield conjugation could be on the cards.

After Seth and Dean's coming together climaxed just ahead of their SummerSlam tag team title shot against Sheamus and Cesaro, many considered the possibility of the duo aiding 'The Big Dog' in his own championship quest later that night.

The possibility of a renewed kinship was knowingly teased on the event itself, as all three men adopted a red and black colour scheme in an apparent show of silent solidarity. Rollins debuted brand new gear on the show, whilst Ambrose adorned a hoodie with his motif before entering the fray.

When Reigns emerged for his main event clash with Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman in identical threads, eagle-eyed viewers assumed SummerSlam would indeed mark their re-emergence.

Whilst it took slightly longer than that, the seeds were planted deep enough by then for speculation to grow, and the men themselves were only too happy to foster that conjecture.
