10 More Weird Wrestling Cameos In Music Videos
4. Joey Ryan In Peaches's Close Up
Electro-punk artist Peaches is perhaps best known for her glam rock inspired wardrobe, her musical expression of gender identity, and her signature blend of alternative and electronic music styles. But apart from being an innovative musician, she's also apparently a fan of the high-intensity, mature-audience-based Lucha VaVoom promotion.
To that end, she made the music video for her song Close Up an homage to her wrestling fandom, albeit with her own bizarre twisted, NSFW vision. In the video, Peaches approaches Kim Gordon, the featured artist on the track, in a gym to train her as a wrestler. After a brief, unhelpful training montage, Peaches steps into the ring dolled out in exaggerated makeup and tights.
Before her match, she has a brief fantasy of getting the upper hand over none other than the King of Dong Style himself, Joey Ryan. She is awoken from this fantasy so she can get the snot beaten out of her by a gauntlet of increasingly weird lineup of wrestlers.
While Peaches's graphic visual style is pretty on brand for Ryan, it is strange that he's featured almost as a supplementary performer. He doesn't get to pull off any of his identifying moves, he just sells for Peaches for a few seconds and is then gone so she can get whooped by a man in flesh-colored tights.
