10 MORE Wrestlers In Situations That Scared The Sh*t Out Of Them
3. "The Tink Heard Around The World"
A superb story emerging from Bruce Prichard's 'Something To Wrestle' podcast, Gerald Brisco's "Tink Heard Around The World" was at long last explained by the longstanding McMahon right-hand-man as a makeshift makegood to a blundering Big Boss Man botch.
The scene had already been set - Stone Cold Steve Austin had just been screwed out of a victory over Mankind in their WWE Championship tournament Semi Final clash thanks to one of Survivor Series 1998's many brilliant twists. Fresh-faced friend Shane McMahon revealed his family's ruse with two middle fingers instead of a three count, but the end of the match required the prison guard to waffle a distracted Austin with his nightstick to hand victory to Mick Foley.
Producer Prichard found himself going ballistic backstage as he realised that his assailant wasn't even at the ringside, and an audible was called to arm Gerald Brisco with a steel chair to do the damage.
Backstage lifer Brisco suddenly had the highest pressure role in the company. Gingerly approaching the company's top draw, he had to choose between sacrificing Stone Cold's credibility with a love tap or literally risking 'The Rattlesnake's neck with a wallop. Frozen in fear, he favoured the former.
To quote Prichard himself; "it was the drizzling sh*ts".
