6. Legion Of Doom Vs Money Inc

Wrestling used to be a lot different and there are plenty that will argue whether it was better for it. The strange case of how Money Inc dethroned WWE Tag Team Champions The Legion Of Doom in February 1992 remains tethered to a time that feels so confined to the past that it's literally unreal.

Hawk and Animal were facing suspension due to the former's ongoing personal issues, but the Road Warriors had protected themselves from on-screen suffering throughout their careers and were about to do the same on wrestling's greatest stage.

Kind of.

Pushing back against Vince McMahon's insistence that they lose the titles before the sabbatical and unwilling to look weak by simply surrendering them, L.O.D engineered a scenario in which they were defeated by the new Jimmy Hart heel unit on a Denver, Colorado house show thanks to interference from stablemates Earthquake and Typhoon as well as Dibiase's outgoing manager Sensational Sherri. All the run-ins mattered too - The Natural Disasters were to hastily turn babyface in order to oppose Money Inc for a WrestleMania VIII Tag Team Championship bout that had been thrown into chaos due to Hawk and Animal's impending absence. Jimmy Hart was even credited with selling the Disasters down the river to get into bed with his newer, richer clients.

The last twist? All of this might not even have happened, even if it was canonical thanks to reports on television in the weeks that followed. To this day, the contest itself hasn't ever aired anywhere.
