10 Most Alarming Ways WWE Rewrites History

2. The Government Had It In For The McMahons

One of the most tasteless on-air moments in WWE history was Stephanie McMahon trying to equate the United States Government going after her family to 9/11. Thousands of people dying horribly and unexpectedly is nothing compared to a boss being taking to court for allegedly telling his employees to get on steroids.

It all started with a man who supplied wrestlers with steroids named Dr. Zahorian, who turned over the records of his Federal Express shipments to the government. Dozens of wrestlers from Roddy Piper to Hulk Hogan to Vince McMahon himself had received shipments from him. So the thing is, they all took something illegal from the same guy, so it's not really the United States government making things up just to get at the owner of the World Wrestling Federation for absolutely no reason like it's often presented.

Hell, Hogan, Piper and Vince all admitted they took steroids! In the end, Vince was acquitted, meaning there wasn't quite enough proof to send him to prison. It’s now framed that he was found innocent, and that the whole case had no merit to it and that poor Vince “beat” the government.

All it really was, though, was egotism to a disturbing degree.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
