When Punk and AJ Styles last clashed at ROH At Our Best on 13 March 2004, they had Ricky Steamboat as the special ref and world class careers ahead of them. Seven months later, they worked again in IWA-Mid South before going their separate ways for good.

Wouldn't it be special if 2020, 16 years after their last bout, housed a reunion for two of the best workers of their generation? Since ROH and IWA, Styles has gone from strength-to-strength, never has a bad match and has finally grown into the role of promo-delivering machine. That'd give WWE more bang for their buck than any "indy dream match" branding ever could.

AJ is also the right man to guide Punk through early ring rust (much like Samoa Joe) and give him a return match to be proud of. Again, it wouldn't be hard for WWE to get their hands on old footage that'd sell the time warp feel of the spectacle and give everyone, young and old, a reason to get hyped.
