10 Most Believable Performers In WWE Today
4. Goldberg
When Goldberg made his return to WWE in television, in October of last year, his re-introduction was oddly heartwarming. That he spoke without a script really should have sent a message to top brass.
As mentioned, the best acts in wrestling are themselves with the volume turned up - but Goldberg subverted that logic with a performance as muted as it was endearing. Refashioning himself as a family man, he spoke of his desire to become a superhero to his son and kids everywhere. It was a convincing performance because it was barely a performance at all. That was the real Goldberg out there - and his humble everyman schtick was a welcome contrast to Brock Lesnar's aloof monster.
His latest appearance was less successful; sauntering onto The Kevin Owens Show stage, he was practically a heel in his spitefulness. Sneering at Kevin Owens, he was completely dehumanised. He wasn't antagonised into a response - he simply threw his weight (and the furniture) around without anything in the way of justification.
Hopefully, it was an aberration. WWE can be fairly accused of dulling emotional beats through repetition. In this case, the opposite was true.
