10 Most Berserk WWE Matches Ever

1. TLC II - WrestleMania X-Seven

The psychology-free spot-fest criticisms are valid.

There’s literally no room for strategy. No time to convey the effects of the match through body language. The wrestling in the first few minutes took a backseat to a spot of Chekhov’s furniture Feng Shui. The selling was at once undercooked and overblown, done largely on the outside of the ring purely as a means of enabling further lunatic sequences to take place within it - which stretched suspension of disbelief in themselves, given that they were contrived at the expense of winning the match.

But, balls-deep in the rush of it all: who really cares? That is the hate it or love it TLC format, and it arguably was never bettered after this. The pay off was worth the literal build of the set pieces. Chair shots rattled brains. Men smashed men through tables with spectacular moves from spectacular heights on a twice per minute basis, at least. Jim Ross made a retrospective funny about Lita “jerking off” Edge - who in the most thrilling and iconic spot speared Jeff Hardy out of twenty foot high mid-air.

Besides which, the introduction of back-up help Spike Dudley, Rhyno and Lita did eventually give the impression that the six men gave half a thought towards winning the thing, as opposed to just surrendering themselves to the slack-jawed bloodlust of the entire stadium.
