Most long time WWE fans will remember Lanny Poffo's time as 'The Genius'. Managing everyone from Mr. Perfect to The Beverly Brothers, the guy is also notable for being the brother of 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. Before he started wearing robes and carrying a scroll with him, Lanny was known as 'Leaping' Lanny Poffo. The gimmick was Poffo's first in the WWF, and had the man recite his trademark poetry in the middle of the ring. In addition to that, he would bring a Frisbee to the ring with him, hurling it out into the crowd before his matches. Remarkably, this somehow made Lanny a babyface, something which simply wouldn't work in the modern era. This happened in the mid-1980's, when wrestling fans were arguably less ruthless towards the good guys. There's something unbelievably awkward about his official 8x10 promotional picture. That outfit is something else to begin with, but the orange Frisbee and straight-out-of-a-porn-movie mustache is rather incredible. Today, such a character would be ridiculed, but Lanny Poffo was somewhat of a smash hit on the lower mid card. He deserves a reward for being able to dress like that and receive cheers.
