The 19 August 2013 episode of Raw saw Sin Cara face then-World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match. The two Mexican superstars aimed to deliver a solid performance for the crowd that night, but the contest only lasted a minute after Sin Cara dislocated his finger a few seconds after the bell.

Alberto Del Rio looked to deliver a kick to Sin Cara's thighs to start things off, but the latter got his hands in the way that resulted in Del Rio's kick connecting with his finger. Sin Cara then attempted a suicide dive to the outside, which exacerbated the injury.

Sin Cara called for the referee to let him know he was hurt, and the official threw out the "X" sign. Del Rio rolled Sin Cara into the ring and delivered a few kicks as the ringside doctor attended to him, and the referee had to pull him away. Del Rio won the match via "referee's decision" but was reportedly unhappy with Sin Cara backstage for stopping the contest because of a finger injury.
