According to WWE lore, Kane was the brother of The Undertaker who was burned severely in a fire that was allegedly set by his older sibling. He was kept locked away by Paul Bearer, who was later revealed to be his father. Two decades later, he emerged and was hell bent on avenging both his mother's death and his own scarring at the hands of the Phenom of WWE. Somewhere in between, he also was a good-looking young man who had a girlfriend named Katie Vick. She was killed in a drunk driving incident involving the Devil's Favorite Demon, who then may or may not have engaged in acts of necrophilia with the deceased girl. Got all that? Good, because WWE Creative never really seemed to know what the hell was going on with Kane, making his back story one of the most bizarre in any form of entertainment. He has had more main squeezes turn on him, more tragedy befall him and transitions from one character to another depending on month, week and day. Currently, the Devil's Favorite Demon is The Authority's favorite lackey, which may be his most bizarre incarnation to date. Regardless of what role he finds himself in, who he's setting on fire and whether or not he did have sex with Katie Vick after she expired, Kane will remain one of the most bizarre and, yet, most enduring characters in WWE history thanks to the connection he has with fans.
