10 Most Blatant Times WWE Tried To Rewrite Its Own History

5. The DX "Invasion"

On 27th April 1998, D-Generation X commandeered a tank and launched a full-scale invasion of WCW.

Except it wasn't a tank, it was a jeep. And it wasn't an invasion, it was a publicity stunt that's been blown way out of proportion.

This moment has been immortalised by WWE, often making its way into video packages about the greatest moments of the Attitude Era. But this is mostly in hindsight, as the segment had little to no effect on programming at the time.

DX didn't even make it inside the arena, having the doors slammed in their face by security as they trundled down the road. That night's episode of Nitro went off without a hitch.

The worst part is, this isn't even the only time they tried this! DX "invaded" WCW buildings several more times over the next few weeks to less impressive results. Triple H claims that one incident resulted in "100 cop cars" turning up at the scene.

But this is coming from a man who married into one of the most controversial families in wrestling history, so perhaps we should take that with a pinch of salt.
