Shawn Michaels' absence from the wrestling world stretched from the main event of WrestleMania XIV - when he passed the torch to Steve Austin - all the way to SummerSlam 2002, as he returned to face his former best friend in a brutal street fight.

Triple H was, by this stage, a far different figure to the one HBK had left behind in 1998. Now an all-conquering mega-heel, Hunter took his Kliq brother to the limit in a brutal epic. Shawn was in full daredevil mode here, splashing Triple H through a table on the outside from the top rope, and later dropping a huge elbow from the top of a ladder.

Indeed, it was HBK who picked up the feel-good win here, reversing a Pedigree attempt into a successful roll-up. Unfortunately, Triple H had the last laugh with his own measure of brutality - a pair of sledgehammer shots to his exhausted opponent.
