The match may have started with the Staples Center crowd chanting for Becky Lynch, yet the end of the Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey match at Survivor Series 2018 had those same fans lapping up the physicality that they’d just witnessed.

In comparison to some of the other battles featured here, Flair vs. Rousey falls short when it comes to sheer sickening levels of violence. By the standards of WWE, though, this was one of the most brutal women's matches in company history. Well, Nia Jax matches aside.

Both ladies were working nice and snug throughout – Rousey being Rousey, Charlotte clearly keen to show she could be just as physically dominant as her foe – until the Rowdy One was left with a bloodied mouth. From there, the intense action was taken to another level, as tight submissions, impactful shots and rough bumps took hold.

What makes this match particularly stand out, of course, is the finish and the resulting post-match beatdown. After Flair had gotten herself DQ’d due to a kendo stick shot, the Queen continued to lay waste to Rousey in a way never seen before or since.

That post-match attack lasted nearly six minutes, as Charlotte rained down kendo shots and then took a chair to Ronda. It may not have been the Rousey vs. Lynch match we'd all hoped for, but the enforced last-minute switcheroo of Flair replacing The Man led to a brilliantly brutal Survivor Series contest.
